My hand are numb and cold for a long time, i sat up looking nervously at the notice board awaiting our results. I am from choir, and this is the day we have all been training for, it is the Singapore Youth Festival, a competition for all students within the age of 6 till 18. It was organised to give us a taste of competition and the taste of victory. Well, that day was the day where dreams were realised and some crushed. But my conductor told us before the competition this quote:' Form your resolve, charge forward and leave no regrets.' that phrase gave us hope and the desire to win. So, we got up there and put up our best, at least i did. After which we sang three songs, 'Credo', '
noyosa' and 'everyone'.
Afterwards, we went back to the waiting room to await our results. After all the other choirs sang their final piece, the management team for the
SYF invited a few of the
committee members to enter the results hall. The rest of us had to wait feverishly at the
waiting room.
After what seemed like an eternity, our seniors returned. They looked sad and i expected the worst. ' We got a gold award.' our
Senior said curtly. We all felt
disappointed and sad, tears leaked from my secondary four
Senior who trained especially hard for this competition.
But i remembered what my conductor said, leave no regrets....The sadness slowly
disappeared and was switched for determination and will. I said to myself quietly,"i will do better!"
